Burrow Detroit: A collection of tiny lives that made a big difference.
Humans are often the worst thing that happens to an animal. Humans also can be the very best that ever happens to them.
The People behind the scene
Meet the founders
Burrow Detroit was inspired and birthed out of collective actions of courageous, selfless women that saw the catastrophic numbers of abandoned and abused rabbits and “pocket pets” and decided to do something about it.
Burrow Detroit was founded by Doris and her husband, Chad, in August 2024.

What We Do
Our main purpose is to be a landing pad for the most vulnerable small pets in metro Detroit: The abandoned and the crisis surrenders rabbits and guinea pigs.
Every year, hundreds of unwanted small pets get dumped in Michigan. Rabbits are found roaming in parks, guinea pigs are discovered in dumpsters, a landlord finds a bun left behind by a previous tenant – you name it. Few shelters are equipped to house pets other than cats and dogs. If they do, those spots are almost always taken.
Burrow Detroit and our rescue partners try to be part of the solution of an ever growing problem. We can use any help we can get!
Our Values
We exist to alleviate suffering of small pets and to bring hope and comfort to their struggling humans when they are unable to care for them.
We exist to lift up other small rescues and sanctuaries, and to rally for lasting change.
